Bronxville Gardens Cooperative is a two building apartment complex located at 1 Georgia Ave and 2 Louisiana Ave in Yonkers, New York (with a Bronxville, NY postal address).
Bronxville Gardens Cooperative (BGC) is a post-war building surrounded by private homes and a public park. BGC, built and occupied in the 1950's, has 101 units comprised of one, two, and three bedroom apartments, and has an underground parking garage. It is one of the few buildings in the area that is pet-friendly.
The Bronxville Gardens Cooperative Corporation was incorporated on October 27, 1952. The first occupants moved into the buildings in July 1954. BGC existed as an FHA sanctioned Cooperative until 1985 when the Corporation bought the ground lease from the original owner-developer and paid off the FHA mortgage then in effect. This enabled the BGC to remortgage and start a series of much needed building improvements. As a result the Coop apartments increased in value and individual apartment mortgages were permitted.
Over the years, BGC has made improvements to the premises which included new and more efficient multi-fuel boilers, new windows, an upgraded electrical service, lobby and hallway upgrades, efficient fire alarm system, and new elevators.
Bronxville Gardens is just steps away from the Village of Bronxville, with its charming shops and restaurants, and also revitalized shopping and entertainment centers such as Cross County Center and the new Ridge Hill complex. Close proximity to the Fleetwood and the Bronxville Metro North Railroad stations and major highways provide quick and convenient access to both New York City and White Plains.
The Bronxville Gardens Cooperative Corporation has been governed by Boards of Directors with as many as thirteen (13) members and currently run by a seven-member Board.
